Flag of the Isle of Man

reagh

Please desist from reverting edits regarding the flag of the Isle of Man. There is an ongoing debate regarding this and, until a consensus has been reached, the flag image should not be changed here. In an RfC here there are 6 votes for the original and only your own vote for your version. You also stated that your version was the original and used that excuse to justify reverting my revert. First of all, that is called edit warring which is prohibited under Wikipedia policy and may result in you being blocked. Secondly, each image has a full history. Your image is most certainly not the original (uploaded in 2014). Please discuss the image and back up your points with references at the relevant talk pages here, here and/or here. Unlike the larger Wikipedia projects, we are a small project. To enable us to focus on this project's growth and development we have a very strict policy regarding vandalism, edit warring, disruptive behaviour, etc. Typically, we give 2 written warnings before a temporary block is issued. If, after the repeal of that block, disruptive behaviour continues, then a permanent block will be issued.

As a result of your history of unilaterally changing and reverting edits here without prior discussion I am hereby issuing you with your first warning.

Do not throw around words like "vandalism" unless it's true. I am not vandalising anything. You may not agree with my edits, but I have done nothing to harm this place, or insert fake or wrong information to mislead. And yes, my image is in fact the original, I can prove so. I never accused you of vandalism. I simply mentioned it together with other instances of misconduct, such as edit warring, disruptive behaviour, etc. Personally, I have no opinion regarding the flag as I am unsure myself as to the correct version. My problem with your edits is based on the fact that you are engaging in disruptive behaviour by continuing to edit war based on your interpretation of a flag which is disputed and not yet resolved. Discuss and solve the problem at the relevant pages (highlighted in my previous comment) before making changes on local wikis. The problem is with the file, not the pages themselves. Also, please refrain from editing userpages as you did here. I have no idea how you can prove that your image is the original. According to the file histories, yours was uploaded this year, while the original was uploaded in 2005. Your version may be a copy of the original, but it is not the original, unless you previously edited under the username Nightstallion. Mac Tíre Cowag 16:57, 7 Mean Souree 2014 (UTC)Reply
My file is the original image before any disputed or controversial changes were made to it. That is what I mean. There is disagreement about how the flag should be properly constructed. Fry1989 (talk) 17:14, 7 Mean Souree 2014 (UTC)Reply
In other words, your file is a copy of the original as it was at a particular period in time, and, therefore, not the original. This is what I stated. I agree that there is a dispute about the flag's construction sheet. However, that should be discussed at the pages I mentioned, and not here on this wiki. So, please, until there is an agreement at the relevant location, do not change the images here. It causes problems, not just with page histories, but also with template formats.
