Hi Mike, I have seen that you have been doing some work on the Manx Wikipedia lately. Thank you for your work here. However I would just like to point out a few small mistakes on your user page related to grammar:

  1. You have written the words my chohortysyn. If there is an s at the end of the word the plural form ssyn must be used (pronounced /zɘn/) - i.e. my chohortys but my chohortyssyn in the plural. I understand that it is written chohortysyn on the interface - this has been noticed and corrected on Betawiki but we're waiting on it to change here for us.
  2. You also have the words My duillag yn ymmydeyr. There are two problems with this construction. If something belongs to you in Manx, the following word (or the word that belongs to you) must be lenited, i.e. my ghuillag. The other point is that in Manx there is an understanding that if something belongs to you then it is definite. In Manx you can't have a double definite on a single item - the definite in this case is shown by possession. The sentence would be better written: My ghuillag ymmydeyr ayns Baarle.
  3. Finally, voish describes veih + eh - the sentence voish Mannin is impossible as voish means from him but Mannin is a feminine word. From Mann is better rendered as veih Mannin. However if you want to say that you are not from Mann, it is better to use the word ass (hailing from). Also, nel is the negative version of ta. Therefore the sentence would be better rendered as Cha nel mee çheet ass Mannin
  • çheet veih Mannin in English -> coming from Mann meaning you were there and are now returning.
  • but çheet ass Mannin in English -> hailing/coming from Mann - you may still be there, or you may be elsewhere.

Anyway, I'd like to wish you the best of luck with your articles. If you have any questions just leave me a message. --MacTire02 09:02, 15 Luanistyn 2009 (UTC)[]
