Leeuwarden is the official name in Dutch, not Manx, and seeing as this is the Manx language wikipedia I feel we should stick to using the Manx language. --MacTire02 16:42, 14 Mee Houney 2008 (UTC)

Ljouwert is Frisian, not Manx and in Leeuwarden Frisian is almost not spoken.--Westermarck 18:25, 16 Mee Houney 2008 (UTC)

It doesn't matter whether Frisian is spoken or not, the fact that it used to be spoken there and is located in an entity named Friesland means that Manx uses the original native name - in this case the Frisian name. The same is applied not just to Friesland or the Netherlands but to France, Spain, Britain, Ireland etc. E.G. The French city Nantes is known in almost every language throughout the world as Nantes. Breton was rarely (if) ever spoken there yet in Welsh, Irish, Scots Gaelic, Cornish and Manx it is known by the Breton name Naoned, not by the the French name. The same goes for Leeuwarden. Although it is Dutch speaking and has been for a very long time, the fact is that as it is located in Friesland then the Frisian language version is the one that is used. --MacTire02 00:27, 17 Mee Houney 2008 (UTC)
