Named places and monuments of Amsterdam are ’t Rijsen hooft, Montelbaanstoren, Zuiderkerk, Oude Kerk, Koopmansbeurs, ’tstathuijs, Nieuwe Kerk, Haringpakkerstoren and De Nieuwe stadt.
At the top are 4 cartouches with views of Vlissingen, Middelburg, Rotterdam and Enkhuizen (the country’s other most important sea trading places at the time), as well as 6 medallions with the bust portraits of Maurice of Nassau, Joris van Spilbergen, Olivier van Noort, Jan Huyghen van Linschoten, Willem Barentsz and Jacob van Heemskerck.

In the bottom left corner is the printer’s dedication to Maurice of Nassau and, in the bottom right, a dedication to the admiralties of Holland, Zeeland and West Friesland.
